Lake Winnibigoshish Fishing Report for July 19, 2009

Lake Winnie, this week, has been a good lesson in boat control. Windy, windy, windy! Fish liked it, though.

The main lake bars have been the ticket for the anglers going out. Moses, Snag and Sugar were all good the last few days. Rigs with leeches are working best. Snells to 8 feet. Some shallow fish were caught on Big Stoney, The Dug outs and Ravens. Crawlers and leeches best, also. Weeds are in 6 to 8 feet.

The perch bite has been spotty. Some are being caught deep off of the bars and also the humps east of Mallard.

The pike bite has been getting better. We had several fish caught that were 30 to 36 inches, mostly trolled with crankbaits outside of the weeds.

Bugs are on the home strech now - thank goodness. The water cooled a bit to 66 to 68 degrees.

Time to go fishing!
