Lake Winnie Fishing Report for August 10, 2009

Hello from Big Winnie!

The bite is heating up even though we have cooler weather. Walleyes are still going well on the humps. They are moving a bit, though, as they have had a lot of fishing pressure. Rigs with crawlers or leeches are working best. The shallows are also going good with jigs and minnows.

Weeds are really the ticket right now! Get into them and short-line the jig and do 1 to 2-foot slow lifts then follow it back down - HOLD ON as the bites are hard.

We are catching the biggest walleyes of the season right now and we have had reports of 2 to 5 a weekend over 26 inches. Bars, again, have been the best.

Perch are going deeper right now - some of the humps and most of the bars from 16 feet down to the basin in spots. Jigs and minnows are best. The perch caught are of good size with most from 9 1/2 inches to 11 inches.

Time to go fishing and see you on the water!
