Lake Winnie Fishing Report for September 11, 2009

Hello, from Big Winnie! The AIM anglers just got done here on the big pond. They did well! Todd Riley won the 3-day event with 101 lbs. Good job! Hope to see all of the AIM people next year. They only do a "catch, then record the length, then put the fish back" format. No walleyes are kept in the livewell.

The bite is just plain outstanding right now. The jig bite in the weeds is great. When the pike move in, move out to the 7 to 9 foot range with a rig and leech or crawler and hang on. The bar fishing is heating up also. The Big bend down to Little Musky is good. Moses and Horshoe are also working well, rigs and crawlers 16 to 23 feet. If you want to troll, you can also troll smaller shad raps or walleye divers in 9 to 12 feet for your fish. It is a fun time to be on the lake!

The perch are going fair mostly north of the bar on the rocky humps in 20 to 30 feet.

Pike are also active trolling spoons outside the weed lines.

Time to go fishing, see you on the water.
