Lake Winnie Ice Conditions & Fishing Report for December 16, 2009

Hello, from Winnie!

The ice is getting thicker by the day. We have 10 to 11 inches in the southern half of the lake toward the river bar. It, then, is less as the river current is still flowing pretty good as of yet. Great care should be taken on the ice at all times.

Check into a resort or local bait shop for up-to-the-minute ice conditions on Lake Winnie.

Fishing for pike has been ok with lots of fish being seen but overal fish size is on the smaller side. Perch are getting active in the afternoons off of the shoreline drops in 20 to 30 feet of water. Walleye bite is ok early and again late in the day. Area lakes vary from 5 to 11 inches as some of these lakes are spring-fed and dangerous in spots.

Care should be used on the ice at all times.

See you on the ice!
