Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for January 4, 2010

Hello, from Big Winnie!

Fishing has been very good for walleyes and northern pike. The Bena Bar is hot! Big and Little Musky, the island and humps east and north of the bar are all kicking out walleyes in 16 to 23 feet of water. Early and late day is best, but bites are happening all day right now. Jigging spoons with minnow heads or live minnows under a bobber are working very well. Stumps have penty of fish going as does Moxeys. Reports from Sugar Bar are also good. Humps North of the bar are also going very well.

The bite is on!

Pike are roaming as well. We have had 9 fish over 30 inches caught in the last couple of days.

Perch fishing is a little spotty. Fish are down there, just not feeding for too long of time periods. You will get 4 or 5 then big breaks in between. Seems that way even on the humps.

Ice conditions are getting good also as we have 17 to 19 inches where my roads are. We are plowed out to the Saddle east and thru Bena Bar north to the Humps just north of Third River Bar.

Plenty of room to fish. See you on the ice.
