Lake Winnibigoshish Ice Fishing Report for January 12, 2010

Hello, from Big Winnie!

Fish are still biting very well! Walleyes are going well right now on the humps North of Bena Bar in 21 to 25 feet of water. Early morning and late-day fishing is better for the walleyes. Glow jigs and tail-hooked minnows works well. Attract them in to the area with a Buckshot rattle spoon and a minnow head.

Perch bite is going well, too, but they are running deeper - 25 to 40 feet of water off of the main lake bars. Horseshoe, Moses and Bena Bar are all working as is the east side from Moxey's Hole and running North.

Pike fishing is still good. The tip-up guys are in 15 to 23 feet and doing good. Pike are being caught in the 27-32 inch range.

The ice conditions on Lake Winnie are still good. No more snow has been falling - which helps. The roads look good and travelling on them has been fine. Some areas of concern are new heaves, but are found only along the road edges.

Feel free to call our resort for up-to-date info on ice conditions or latest fishing reports.

Time to go fishing, see you on the ice!
