Lake Winnibigoshish Fishing Report for August 3, 2011

The walleye bite is good on the deeper structures still, on rigs or spinners tipped with leeches or crawlers. There is a shallow water walleye bite in the weeds, but only if there is a breeze creating a ripple on the surface. The walleyes, here, give the most attention to jigs and minnows. Best areas, still, are the main lake bars and the Humps north of Bena Bar.

Perch are going well on the rocks northeast and on Big Stoney. Fishermen and women are catching good numbers of perch that are usually between 10 to 11 inches long.

Pike are going well on trolled spoons or bigger crankbaits just outside of the weeds.

This time of the year you need to have all of your bait choices covered as the fishing action and the fish's interest will change up several times in a day.

See you on the lake!
