Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 13, 2012

Hello, from Big Winnie!

Walleyes are biting on the bars and humps pretty well right now. Rig with crawlers, leeches or minnows are getting the walleyes going. You need all baits with you, at this time, as during the day the walleyes switch their preference. Perhaps finicky, but very decisive and bite well once they decide. If you graph walleyes that were eating leeches well and then quit biting, switch-up baits for a few more fish. It will work! Wind is really the key right now. Rig or jig in the wind, troll faster if it is flat. Cranks and spinners working well. Shore drops are producing walleyes also, but deeper in the 8 to 13 foot range.

Look to the weeds for a good perch bite, sometimes as shallow as 4 feet. They are definitely there and lots of fun for young fishermen and women. Good action and great to eat.

Pike are active in the weeds or out in deeper water. Lots of small fish are being taken, however. The big ones are a little quiet.

Sunnies and crappies are now going into a summer pattern. Look to coontail beds and fish them an hour before dark for panfish.

At this time, we have openings in July and August. Make your reservations now. We have lakeside cabins, harbor cabins and 6 motel rooms to choose from. It's very convenient to leave your boat behind, stay in our motel and do a very fun walleye launch. Cost effective and a very good time!

See you on the lake!
