Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 21, 2012

Hello, from very wet Big Winnie!

The walleye bite continues to go well. The main lake bars, such as Bena from Big Musky through Long Bar is good. The Horseshoe Bar and Moses is good. On a west or east wind, Snag Hole is going. Center is also a good bet. The humps west of Bena are also producing good walleeys. Rigs and leeches, crawlers and also some minnows, all working. The walleyes have a preference that, sometimes during the day, changes. The High Banks area in 10 to 14 foot is working. Look to the deeper weeds in Tamarac bay, also, for walleyes.

Perch are scattered around the weeds in 6 to 12 feet of water. They are actively taking jigs and fathead minnows. Some trollers are catching perch with smaller cranks outside the weed line in the 10 to 12 foot range.

We have had some mayfly hatches recently; however, it does not seem to bother the bite at this time.

See you on the water!
