Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 27, 2012

Hello, from Big Winnie.

The walleye bite is "on and off," several times a day now as the food sources available to them are peaking right now. Bugs hatching and minnows are abundant. There are several short bite windows throughout the day. You need to have crawlers and leeches and prepared to be versatile in your approach. Rigging the north humps or the main lake bars is working quite while throughout these walleye bite windows. After the bite slows, troll blades and bouncers for additional walleye bites.

Perch are going well now. Deeper is better. Off the main lake bars and humps has been best with jigs and minnows.

Area panfishing is going good early in the morning and later in the evening. Look to 8 to 15 feet at the weed edges.

Pike are active, but their average size is still smaller than we usually see.

See you on the water.
