Lake Winnie Fishing Report for May 22, 2013

Hello, from Big Winnie. The weather has warmed since the opener and the ice is now long gone. The walleye bite has started a little slow, but picked up toward the end of the week. The north end around the gap toward the river channel into Tamarac Bay is seeing some active walleyes. The Stoney Point area down through Sugar Island is also producing walleyes.

Water temps are in the upper forty degree range right now. Work slower speeds with rigs and minnows or jigs. 7 to 14 feet of water has been the key to finding the hungry fish.

The perch bite is great with them quite hungry and in the post spawn mood. They are readily caught with jigs and minnows.

Pike fishing has been good, as well.

Please know that we still have cabin and motel room openings in June. The next four weeks should be incredible fishing. Call us for availability or use the request form found at the "Contact Us" page on this website.

Time to go fishing! See you on the lake!
