Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 12, 2013

Hello, from Big Winnie! The walleye bite is about as HOT as the temps are getting. Walleye are still coming in from the shallow areas where weeds are starting to grow. 4 to 8 feet of water, with shiners, has been the best tactic. Play the wind - you want a bit of wind into or along the structure. Move along fairly quickly, 1 to 1.5 mph is good. If you lose the wind, drop spinners and pick up the speed. Mallard area south to the Bird Houses, East side from the Rock north to Highbanks area is good. North shore is also kicking out the walleyes. Some bar walleyes are showing up, also. Mostly slots. Leechs and shiners, or a crawler, are working for the bar fish.

Plenty of perch to keep you busy along with the walleye.

Sunfish and crappies are doing good in both Little and Big Cutfoot right now. Look to the weed areas emerging in the 6 to 10 foot range. Early or evening has been the best times. Water temps into the low 60 degree range now.

It's a great time to be fishing on Lake Winnibigoshish! See you on the lake.
