Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for March 5, 2014

Hello, from Big Winnie. The Perch bite is ON!!! The west side seems to be hot, as of now. River Bar, Sugar Bar, and Sugar Point up thru Ravens has been GREAT. Look to 12 to 20 feet of water for good perch fishing. When that depth slows, move in to 5 to 10 feet of water and you'll find perch - lots of them. It's a mixed bag of sizes but plenty of fish to be had. Some humps up north of Third River Bar are also putting good perch on the ice. Check to see signs of "life (anything biting) before sitting in one spot though. You'll need to keep moving.

Tullibee are biting well in the deep basin areas. 30 to 40 feet of water is the place off of main lake bars. We had some groups with 50 to 75 for a days fishing off Big Musky. That same thing happens off shore-drops, as well. It's pretty exciting - they're fun to catch and terrific when smoked.

Roads are plowed in several areas; just call into your resort for a map and directions on where to go. Warmer temps coming.

Time to enjoy some perch fishing!!! Bring the kids. See you on the lake!
