Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for March 20, 2014

Big Winnie perch bite is still going strong! Shore drops are still your best bet. Look from 8 feet out to 20 feet. Gold colors are best, tipped with minnows or half minnows. Sort thru and it is not a big problem to get your 20 perch limit. The tullabee bite is still going strong off of the main lake bars as well. Look to 30 to 40 feet of water then fish them 5 to 15 off the bottom. Waxies and sunfish spoons have been the ticket.

Sunfish and crappie have started to go good also. Look to Little Cutfoot, Big Cutfoot or Portage Lake. The best bite has been from 3 till dark. Waxies are the way to go.

Travel conditions have gotten good. Most of the lake has re-froze with very little snow left on the lake. Travel is best outside of old roads. Use them as guides but run outside and parallel to them. You can cross old road beds where they are low and froze. If they are still high, stay away.

Check into the resort you are staying for an up to the minute report on conditions. With warming temps it is time to go panfishing!

See you on the lake!
