Lake Winnie Fishing Report for May 21, 2014

Hello, from Big Winnie! The walleye bite is great with good numbers of fish and some great keepers mixed in. 10-15 feet deep is were the baitfish are hanging. This is the reason that most of the walleye action is going from 12 to 18 feet of water. Find bait pods and the walleyes are there, also. Jigs and minnow or rigs and minnow are the best options right now. Look to Mallard down through Ravens Point on the west side. North shore from Big Stoney over to Pigeon River. The gap has fish in it also but more throwbacks. plenty of fish to be had! High Banks on the east side is going as is the Stumps and Snag Hole on the south. Generally, main shore drops is the ticket.

Perch are ending their spawn now and plenty of fish being caught in the same areas, but shallower. Look to the 6 to 12 foot range. This is the time of the year you can have fun catching 50 to 75 walleye a day!

Time to go fishing!
