Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 19, 2014

Hello, from Big Winnie. The walleye bite is a bit different right now. You can catch fish rigging deeper water, off humps and main lake bars now with leeches and crawlers. Look to 14 to 23 feet of water. Seems as cloudy, misty, rainy days are good walleye days. Trolling small cranks over main lake bar tops are producing well on calmer, sunny days. Moving at 1.8 to 3 mph. Shad raps or similar in the #5s or #7s. Weed line fish are there one day and not the next. It is worth a quick check as they are active in them. Rip jigs and shiners through them.

Pike are going readily and taking baits while walleye fishing. Use bigger cranks if you want to target them, though.

Sunfish are going well in most area smaller lakes. Winnie area, look to Cutfoot, Sugar Lake and Little Cutfoot. Water is higher this year by almost 10 inches. Put that into your equation looking for your spots.

Perch have started going well off main lake shore drops in 10 to 15 feet of water. Jigs and fatheads the best way to go.

See you on the lake!
