Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 25, 2014

Hello, from Big Winnie. We are in a bit of a summer pattern for walleye right now. Several short bite windows and they are lasting only 15 to 30 minutes. As the water warms, the fish feed more often but for not as long - this is typical later in the summer. The best bite has moved off shore as well. Bar and Hump fishing is going well now. Bena Bar out to Long Bar is doing okay. Moses and Snag Hole to the west is good. Moxeys, east side and out to the Humps is good. North and west of Third River Bar is good. Weed lines have very few fish in them, unless it is raining or windy.

Perch action is okay in the mid-depth range from 12 feet out to 25 feet of water. Jigs and fathead minnows are working best. Look to Tamarac Bay for perch and walleye in the river channel, also. Fish in 12 to 20 feet of water.

Crappie and sunfish are going well in Cutfoot and Little Cutfoot. Some other good area lakes to check are Portage, Six Mile or Little Ball Club.

We are excited to let everybody know we NOW have air conditioning in our cabins on the south side of the harbor, along with the motel rooms. This should make it much more comfortable on this warm summer evenings when the lake breeze isn't helping to cool the air.

See you on the lake!

Pat
