Lake Winnie Fishing Report for September 18, 2014

Hello, from Big Winnie! Fall is approaching and with it cooler temps. Water temps are cooler but the fishing is getting hotter! Walleye fishing is starting to go very good on the outside of weed lines. Look to 8 to 12 feet of water. Jigs and minnows are a good option. Smaller crank baits are working well, also. The bait fish are starting to go shoreward and this brings in the fish.

Perch bite is going well in the weeds. Look to 4 to 8 feet of water and the greenest weeds for them. Again jigs and minnows working well.

Pike are active all around with the best areas just beyond the weed edge, again 8 to 12 feet. Bigger spoons or plugs being pitched are working.

Crappie are hitting on all smaller lakes around Winnie. If the wind blows bad, put in at Cutfoot or Ball Club or Portage or Six Mile. Fishing is good with most crappies coming from 18 to 25 feet of water. Water temps are in the upper 50 degree range now. Time to go fishing!
