Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for December 11, 2014

Hello, from Big Winnie! The ice is growing rapidly we are between 14 and 15.5 inches of ice, but with no snow. Fishing has been good! Perch are being caught in bigger numbers, but they have to be sorted through a bit to separate the smaller ones from the ideal eating sized fish. Shore drops have be working best, such as Moxey's, the Stumpfield on the southeast corner, Snaghole or Sugar on the west side.

Walleye action has been good on the main lake, bars, and humps. Work 15 to 25 ft of water.

Pike are on fire!!! If you are tip-up fishing, fish the top section of all the break lines and 3 ft off the bottom.

Panfish have been good early and late in the day. Big and Little Cutfoot and Third River, 7-9 ft of water.

ATV travel is possible and safest on the entire lake right now - which is great. Light truck travel is possible out of some resorts. Call ahead to where ever you are going before going out on the lake. Your resorts will provide the best advice and ensure your safety.

Just a reminder: The ice is VERY slippery because of very little snow, so be careful and use ice cleats if possible. Be safe and see ya on the lake!
