Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for January 16, 2015

Ice is in good shape! 24 inches, very little snow. Travel is good.

The walleye fishing is starting to get better as the last cold front has passed. Look to the main lake bars and humps. Fish close to the edges. 15 feet down to 23 feet is good with whole minnows 1 to 3 feet off bottom.

Perch fishing is best using the same drops, but at the bottom. Focus on the structures in 25 to 35 feet as this has worked best. You'll need to sort through a few small perch to find the jumbo perch.

Pike action has been great! You will get your three with no problems. Fish up to 40 inches have been brought in, with 22 to 28 inch fish being quite common.

Weather patterns are remaining stable for awhile, should get things moving even better.

Lake travel is good with a few heaves but every resort has ways around them. Check into a resort you going out from to get road directions. See you on the ice!
