Lake Winnie Fishing Report for June 3, 2015

Hello, from Big Winnie! With the stable weather, we have a more consistent walleye bite. Best times have been early and later in the day, though. With wind, you can jig or rig the main lake bars. Look to Bena Bar from Big Musky out to the Bends. Snag Hole and Sugar to the west. Tops of the breaks in 13 to 15 feet, down the sides to about 28 feet, have been the best. Shoreline areas are just now showing some better weed growth. In the late evening, you can run the outside edges of these weeds with #5 shad raps to catch these fish, also.

Pike still active and hungry! Look for some of the pike on the drops to start moving into the weed beds. At this time, you need to be able to change up your baits. Crawlers, leeches and minnows are all working with pike showing different preferences through out the day. These fish are eating well as there are baitfish just about everywhere.

Perch are being caught on some of the same drops, but a bit deeper. Jigs and a chub are good for perch.

Sunnies are starting to make and get onto beds. Crappie bite is decent up in Cutfoot early and again late in the day. They are just outside of the new weed edges. Small jigs under a bobber with a two-inch twister tail is all you need the get them.

Water temps are still in the upper 50 range. Lake levels are back to normal.

See you on the lake!
