Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for December 29, 2015

Hello, from Big Winnie. Ice is getting better quickly. We are at about ten inches of ice now on the south third of the lake. Several resorts including us are on the lake with lighter shacks. ATV travel is the best and safest option now.

Fishing for walleye and pike has been good, look to the tops of the bars or the tops of the shore drop in 10 to 15 feet of water. Early and late in the day for walleye. Pike after the sun is up has been good throughout the day.

Perch have been spotty, but some are being caught deep in 30+ foot range during the day but sorting a lot for to find reasonable eating size. Shallow fishing for perch in the 6 to 12 feet depths has been better and produced better size but they come and go quickly.

Check into a resort or bait shop for access details to the lake and for your best travel options. Be safe!

See you on the lake!
