Fishing Report for May 13, 2009

The Fishing Opener is here! The walleye opener was very good for fishing, but the weather, as usual was lacking warmth. The fish were biting from Birches Landing North to the tip of Tamarack Point. Mallard and Ravens put out some nice fish. We had several limits brought in with plenty of slot fish to keep fishermen busy. Best depths were, and are still today, 12 to 16 feet of water. Northland shiner jigs and a spot-tail was the ticket.

The perch bite is also doing well as of today - fairly deep, 14 to 16 feet. Fatheads with watermelon fireballs have been most successful. Water temps vary from South to North - 48 to 51 degrees.

Shiners are off shore a bit. Pike were also willing to take your offerings while catching the walleyes.

Panfishing is starting a bit slow, but will pick up as soon as the water warms a bit more.

See you on the water!
