Fishing Report for May 21, 2009

Hello, from Big Winnie!

The water is finally starting to warm up. The walleye bite is going very well, also. The fish have moved in on some of the shallow areas that have produced good fish year after year. The Dishes area to Plug Hat Point is good right now. The Sugar Island area to Ravens Point is also very good. Mallard and Stoney Point is a great spot to work. The Highbanks area is still putting plenty of fish in the boat.

Use a shiner jig with a spot-tail or a plain hook leader and a shiner. The fish are in 5 to 10 feet of water. Some walleyes are also being found off Bena Bar and Moses Bar, scatterd along the top.

Perch are moving in after the spawn, the vast numbers of them can be found in 9 to 12 feet of water. Fireball jigs and a fathead are working well.

The pike are biting in mainly deep water now. They are found mostly off the main lake bars.

Water temperatures are in the low 50s.

See you on the water!
