Lake Winnibigoshish Fishing Report for May 28, 2009

Hello from Big Winnie!

The walleye bite has gotten very good this week! Walleyes are going shallow on the shores that have the wind blowing into them. They are mostly being found in three to eight feet of water. Successful fishermen are using shiners and jigs.

Rigger fishermen are getting fish on the Bena Bar from Big Musky through the Bend. Sugar Bar is also going pretty strong right now.

The perch bite is getting progressively better, though they are being found in deeper water. Most perch are being found right now on the bars and humps in 17 to 24 feet. Fatheads and a fireball (in color "parrot") jig seems to be the strongest presentation.

Pike have be going well for the few fisherman pursuing them. Trolling Rapalas off the bars and also in the eight to 12 foot range along the shoreline is working for most pike enthusiasts.

Water temperatures are getting warmer and the panfishing has really picked up in the area lakes. This is a terrific time to be fishing!

See you on the water!
