LAKE WINNIE FISHING REPORT

Hello from Big Winnie.

Walleye bite here is very good. Jig and shiner bite is the way to go.Most shoreline drops are working well. Play the wind. You want wind blowing in or along the shorelines you are fishing. The bite windows are going three times a day. Cloudy days bite goes longer. Sunny days you need just a bit of wind to get them going. Water is stained now as we have about six foot of viability. Glow colors have been a better option because of that. Glow pink straight glow , watermelon. You can cover water quickly. Running .8 to 1.5 is good. Hit a pod of fish slow just a bit and work them over. Best depth has been 8 to 12 feet. Occasionally moving out to 14 to 18 feet. Plenty of size range also. Many fish in the 19 to 22 inch range to keep your arms worked out. 16 to 17 inch fish are the majority of the keepers. Then we have a 14 inch year class that is being caught also. You will catch thirty to fifty fish and keep 6 to 10 of them . Plenty of large fish for pictures are also in the mix.

Pike bite is going strong . Fish larger minnows in the 10 to 14 foot range. There is some weeds starting to show. Remember pike between 22 and 26 inches goes back.

Perch are ending the spawn. Starting to put some of them in the boat in shoreline rocks, some sparse weeds and even clean sand when shiners move in to spawn. Look to 4 to 8 feet of water. Smaller jigs and a fathead best way to go. Sorting will be the norm as we are catching fish from 7 to 11 inches.

See you on the lake Pat.
