LAKE WINNIE FISHING REPORT

Walleye action is very good now. You can troll spinners tipped with crawlers and leeches on the main lake structures. The main lake bars top off about 14 to 16 feet of water. Start trolling the edges ,as the eyes get active they move on top and spread out. One to two mph seems to work well. evening fishing trolling crank baits for them on the same structures is very effective. Weed edges and rocks you can jig around them and catch fish. You can catch plenty in the 14 to 15 inch range. .

Perch are getting active now in the weed beds. We have an invasive weed , starry stonewart

with wind. When it catches on the native weed beds it expands the size of the weed bed. Perch use this weed to feed. Small jig and a fathead is a great way to boat these fish. Some of the humps north and west of bena bar have some big perch in numbers on them.

Pike are starting to build up girth. They are active on the weed edges. Fish them with trolled spoons on the edges fast. You can also cast cranks and spoons into the weed pockets for bigger fish.
