Big Winnie ice is getting better - MUCH better!! We now have a lot of 15 to 17-inch ice, in several locations. A couple of spots that froze last have 7 to 9 inches, but we are staying away right now and will, of course, direct you away from those dangerous locations. Now is the time to have lots of dialogue with the resort you use to access the ice - be sure to be safe! Walleye bite has been good in the evenings till about 10:00 pm. Hello, from Big Winni! The ice development is progressing well. It has been cold and we are seeing 10 to 12 inches in an area from the south shore, north toward the Bena Bar, then east to The Rock. Perch fishing has been good in 8 to 15 feet of water, from the shore drop. Fathead minnows and orange jigs have been working from 10 am till 2 pm. Hello, from Big Winni! We are getting reliable cold weather and have very little snow. Ice is coming along very good at this time. We are sitting between 8 and 10 inches of ice. With the cold temps this week, we will be out on the lake soon with bigger stuff. Wheelers and portables are the way to go right now. Third River area has been giving up good pike. Some sunfish have been caught, also. At the shorelines, perch have just started. Most places getting some lighter shacks
