Big Winnie is heating up. Walleye are in summer patterns now. Water temps in the upper 70 degree range several bug hatches and weed growth finally getting underway the bite is going . Presentation is the question mark each day. Rigged leeches have turned fish on the bar edges. Hello from Big Winnie. We are sitting with upper sixty degree water temps. Fly hatches are getting underway. Walleye bite has been generally good. There is a lot of small fish going in the system. Fish from 10 to 12 inches. Those will be next years keepers. There is some 14 to 17s being caught. Look the the first drops coming off the shoreline. Hello from Big Winnie. Walleye and Pike have closed. There is plenty of 10 to 12 inchers in the system waiting on spring to arrive. Looks to be a good year class coming through Perch are the ticket now. The bite is on. Numbers of perch being caught from 8 inches up through 12 inches. They are keying on crawfish heavily now. Shallow bite from 7 to 12 feet of water almost exclusively they are on 3/4 to 1 inch crawfish. Minnow pieces or waxes are working to ice these fish. Early

We are slowly making ice on Winnie. We have been out to long bar north. We have 12 to 14 inches. Snow cover is 12 to 15 inches. We are plowing a road going north east at this time as the ice in that area is a uniform 14 to 15 inches. We have a few cracks that are seeping water. No major flooding at this time. Big Winnie has now 10 to 12 inches of ice. We are sitting with about a foot of snow on the lake. Soon roads will be opened up. Sleds and atvs are the way to travel. Walleye bite has been good early and late in the day. Dead stick a minnow , and next to that jig a spoon and a minnow to attract then in. They will take the dead stick. Fish the shore drops in 10 to 18 feet of water. Main lake bars fish the same. Perch are being caught from the 5 foot shorelines out 10 feet. These

Hello from big Winnie. We are sitting 10 to 11 inches of ice. Snow cover of about six inches. Lake is is good shape as of now. Normal setting up with some cracks to deal with.. Lake Winnie has frozen over. Ice now is not safe for travel. Cold temps for another week should stack up some ice though. Ice varies from three inches to six inches.. Rough spots are out there as we froze up on some wind. Time to check your ice gear , get ready for the season. We will be posting weekly reports of ice conditions . Walleye bite is still good evenings. Troll small cranks or spinners tipped with minnows or crawlers over the weed tops in the 8 to 12 foot range. Plenty of eater fish and an occasional big one are being caught. Day bite is still spotty. Windy or rainy days can produce some fish. we are seeing a lot of ten to eleven inch fish being caught. Big Winnie walleye bite still best at twilight hours. Early and late in the day is the best time to go out. Rigs tips with crawlers or leeches is the best. Night time you can run shad raps on the bar tops. Day bite is spotty . You can pick a few fish out the weeds. Jiggle crawlers between weed edges to get a couple of bites. Deeper drops of the main lake bar drops or hump edges down to 30 feet is ok for a few fish. Perch are starting to go shallow up to the weeds in 8 to 13

Walleye bite on the big lake is spotty. Look to deeper structures during the day. Main lake bars and humps. Rig them with crawlers or leeches. Work the tops in 15 feet down to the basin. 35 feet. More consistent action is happening late evening well into dark. Fish are making moves on top of most shore and main lake structures. Trolling small crank baits is a good method to search the fish out. Once you have a pod found throw a slip bobber and a leech to them. Perch bite is s
